The Fall of Luna
Also known as the Fall
The Solastis conquest of human and dwarven Luna. Valerius Solastis and Seralyth march east from elven Grimsward with Eldanare's houses and Surin numbers to take the oath-hill and make Luna a city of pure elven blood. There was no last stand: the city was unprepared and its walls broken, and its army fled north-east.
Why the elves could win
- The Templars of the First Light, Eldanare's luminarite knights (later adopted by the Creed, which kept the name).
- Numbers grown over centuries in Surin and Grimsward, with Grimsward's pressed labour and dwarven-forged siege engines.
- The oath-sword was broken on its own stone (see Velorith).
- Valerius had killed King Artorin with a hidden dagger about 1060 BL, some 355 years earlier. Breaking the first king's sword on its stone finished his own work, as the human telling says.
Consequences
- Those who stayed entered the Sufferance; the exiles founded Crowbrook and fought the Great War.
- [Book 1 spoiler]Grimsward's elves "still sent tribute" to Luna afterwards: the court had moved; the old pacts and shared blood remained.
