Perrin is a vulnerable child before he is a route, a crisis or a strategic question.
In The Godless Priest
Perrin Doss was a boy travelling with the army's rear column with his mother Sera, because no Crowbrook refuge would accept his unstable spinal mark and the army offered daily treatment. His passenger had been gentle for three years, warning of seizures and helping him feel his legs, under terms his mother had negotiated. During the thrall mutiny it told him his missing father waited beyond one safe opening, and he agreed. His body opened into a route through which fugitive demons, fleeing Crown enforcement, crowded towards the mortal world and begged for asylum.
Ravel tried a cut that might have closed the route and saved him, but it failed. Perrin, still conscious, begged Cassian to wait, and Cassian killed him to close the door. His mother crushed what remained of the passenger and recorded her son's grave as closed by mother after the priest killed the host. The displaced column carried a plain wooden marker bearing his name, and Ravel read him first among the dead on the open plain.

After the books
Dies before the end of the books. Killed when the route is closed; his death is recorded without pretending it was a clean necessity. The closing of the route kills Perrin and leaves his mother with a grief no success can settle.
