Parry and disarm
Parry
Parry has its own button and is a left-hand action. You can parry with:
- a dagger, straight sword or small shield in the left hand, once you are Trained (50) with it;
- anything that can parry, held in both hands.
A right-hand blade on its own only blocks; the right hand delivers the counter. A parry deals no damage, but a successful one opens a counter window of just over a second.
Disarm
Time a parry with a light attack to knock the weapon from an enemy's hand. Catch the attacking blade close to its hilt, at the right angle and within a split second; miss and you are briefly locked out.
A disarmed enemy staggers for 2 seconds, open to a finishing blow. When you are disarmed, your weapon drops where you stand and stays yours; you draw a sidearm from your next filled slot.
Runeblades, shields, fist weapons, claws, flails, whips, bows, crossbows and thrown weapons cannot be disarmed, and neither can you while unarmed.
