The Arch Luminar

The Arch Luminar is Sanctum perfection made flesh: serene, immaculate, and terrifyingly calm. He speaks in absolutes dressed as mercy, and the Creed’s will seems to arrive a heartbeat before his footsteps.

In The Channeler

The Arch Luminar never appears in person in The Channeler, but his authority hangs over all of it. He is the head of the Creed, whose true seat is the First Sanctum, and Brother Adresin speaks as his public voice in Luminglade. The Arch Luminar was said to keep careful records of the hollowborn's growing strength, to have noted the four unusual young Fae on the Mask-year terrace, and to want instruments rather than curiosities: Kael insisted he had asked for a system.

Kael served as his favourite instrument, sending him notes and carrying sealed packets under his mark, including the file used to blackmail Leth Serane. Leth expected the Arch Luminar to hear of his defiance, and the part of Kael's work that escaped up the dispatch line was bound for the First Sanctum.

After the books

Known after the books as Aiduin Solastis. Arch Luminar (revealed). Revealed brother of King Aurelion Solastis. Born 714 BL in elven Grimsward, before the Fall of Luna; lit the Spire over the oath-stone in 0 AL. The mask comes off: the Arch Luminar is Aiduin Solastis, Aurelion’s brother, an ancient political mind wearing holiness as a crown. His ‘faith’ is a lever, and his sons are placed like blades where thrones cannot reach.
