An illusionist with a reputation for making truth feel optional. Fate sells concealment, misdirection, and the kind of comfort that vanishes the moment you stop paying for it.
Appearance
Fate wears her dreadlocks coiled high with silver wire and tiny mirrors that catch light that is not there. When Fi meets her, one eye is milk-white and the other sharp as broken glass; by the end of their meeting both are white.
In The Outcast Knight
Fate Mistwreath is an illusionist who works from a black silk tent at the edge of the trade district's poorer stalls, marked only by a blue lantern that burns without flame. Ferrin sent Fi to her to disguise Velorith for the tournament. Fate greeted Fi by her full name and said she must taste the wielder to cloak the sword's memory. Touching Fi's temple, she drew her back into the memory of Moonlit Serenity, finding there the strong flavours of storm and self-loathing she needed.
She warned that a lie of that size is paid for twice, once in the weaver's sight and once in the bearer's fate. Something snapped behind Fi's ribs as Fate touched her again, and Fate wove threads of shadow and light around the blade until it looked like a plain tourney sword. As she did so her remaining good eye turned milk-white. She told Fi not to ask twice, and the blue lantern went dark as Fi left.

After the books
After the Scorched Sky, illusions turn from parlor craft to weaponry; Fate’s art becomes dangerous not for what it shows, but for what it persuades people to ignore.
