An unborn heir spoken of like a prophecy. Even before birth, his name is a tool, used to legitimise unions, soothe unrest, and threaten rivals.
In The Outcast Knight
Anceles is the unborn child of King Aurelion and Queen Haelara, and remains unborn throughout the book. The King announced the pregnancy at Tragus Halmund's hanging, declaring that the child would be heir to the throne above his elder sons, and enraging Alerion. Astarion, who thinks of the child as his half-brother Anceles, sees the birth as a joining of two worlds the King had kept apart. Alerion called the baby a half-breed and told Haelara he wanted it born screaming. Later, Astarion kissed Haelara's belly and vowed that the child would never feel the cruelty of the old reign.

After the books
Unborn heir. Still unborn / outcome not specified in Book 1 text snippet. A symbol more than a person: a future claim the court can shape into whatever story the realm will accept. Blood, law, and adoption blur, while power pretends it never does.
