Fenn Stoneborn is the name Gorgon puts forward when the Council speaks of tithe-storms: a Mask-year chosen because stone endures what softer things cannot. If Luna wants a weapon, Fenn is the kind that doesn’t bend, only breaks what it hits.
Appearance
Fenn is broad and green-marked, with huge hands, and quiet as a buried door. Under strain, stone rises through his skin in dark ridges.
In The Channeler
Fenn Stoneborn is a Gorgon trainee whose stone rose through his skin during the Mask-year trials before he meant it to. Kael marked him as the stone current, and the Council named him Gorgon's tithe. When Kael reduced the four candidates to functions, Fenn answered that he had a name and told him to use it. On the road he stopped to touch a marker carved with his aunt's name, among those tithed and never returned.
In the Lower Sanctum Kael measured how much weight his stone would bear, and Fenn held under the blows while the governor drew his strength away. He kept watch over Maerin's door, followed the twins and Neris into Kael's final laboratory, and locked the apparatus into the floor so it turned on its maker. Throughout the escape he braced failing stone and carried the wounded Leth, still holding him upright in the Festival court at the end.
