Elder Brann of Gorgon sits like a pillar that decided to move. He dislikes change, distrusts experiments, and treats every new idea as grit between teeth. But he can feel the world leaning toward the edge. And even stone shifts when the hill begins to crack.

Appearance

Brann sits behind the blunt stone Council mask of Gorgon, carved with suggestions of scales and horns, and looks like a piece of pillar that decided to move. His hands are like carved rock and his voice grinds like gravel.

In The Channeler

Elder Brann is the Gorgon voice on the Council of Masks, slow to speak and wary of change. He tied the last three hollowborn surges to Phoenix outbursts, including Elias's nightmares, and agreed to the Creed's proposal only grudgingly, refusing to send more than one of his own; that one was Fenn Stoneborn. When Nyssa complained that Gorgon's Hush jars smelled of chalk, he answered that Gorgon only stores what it is given. He repeated the word experiments as if tasting grit when Kael offered the Creed's dampeners, and lamented that Luminglade had not always lived so close to the edge. At the naming his whole speech was six words about stone paying what it owes, and when Fenn insisted Kael use his name, Brann's mask gave a low sound that might have been approval or warning.
