Antler is a Veil-Brother with a stag-mask and a staff strung with dim luminarite beads. He hears ward-strength in the tap of wood on stone, reads the thinning of lines like weather, and keeps the column moving when panic would make it spill. He is not cruel; he is exact. In the woods, exactness is how you live.
Appearance
Antler wears a Veil mask carved like a stag's skull, its antlers sweeping back over his head, with a chain of clouded luminarite beads across his chest. He carries a staff of pale wood etched with Veil-sign, hung with small beads that chime and glimmer in answer to the wards.
In The Channeler
Brother Antler is a Veil-Brother of Luminglade who walked the night paths with Corren to shadow the Mask-year trainees on the Hush-cap harvest. He warned them that numbness from the wrong direction was Inaris offering help, read from the moss that Elias and Maerin had crossed the outer ring, and chose not to punish them, cutting the run short instead. On the walk home he named the wrong quiet in the wardstones as something Sanctum-touched and found the tithe mark carved into the ward posts.
Antler stood with Vael when they found Uren emptied, declaring that the boy had been tapped. He argued that Vael should not follow the route-cloth alone and went with him, laying quiet ward-marks over Corren's practical ones. When Kael's templars ambushed them his staff was pinned before he could act, and he was released after Vael gave himself up. His breath-marks later helped guide the survivors out of the underways.
