Bram's name appears in the nursery's fragile safeguards against the dead claiming family right.
In The Godless Priest
Bram is the eldest of Hess Marrow's three children. In the opening scene Bram hid behind the wardrobe holding the family's nursery nail, kept a hand over Tam's mouth and steadied the others by repeating their names. Told that Cassian had killed their mother, Bram struck him again and again with the nail and made him say Hess's name each time.
In Black Mercy's nursery Bram was suspicious of Oren and Vell, searched for stolen names and guarded Orra's cloth fox. Bram helped write the nursery's protective rules, argued that returning a stolen thing does not undo the theft, pulled down the Synod's clean sheet to expose an altered rule, and added "If a clean wall arrives, look behind it." Bram witnessed Oren's separation from Vell and was among the children who stayed in Crowbrook's refuges when the army left.
