A Templar of the First Light, armoured doctrine made flesh. He carries the Sanctum’s certainty like a blade: bright, polished, and meant to be seen.
Appearance
Alesund is an elf with pale features softened by an earnest expression, and eyes the pale grey of stone washed by winter rivers. His templar armour is plain but beautifully kept, polished steel traced with lines of inlaid luminarite and marked with the sunburst sigil of the Eye of Luna on the breastplate. He wears a cloak the colour of dawn fog.
In The Outcast Knight
Alesund Moonspear, announced as Templar of the First Light and sworn shield of Luna, was Fi's opponent in the high bracket of the King's Tournament. The crowd greeted him with the solid respect owed to someone who had kept them safe for years. Before the bout he told Fi quietly that he knew her name and Oakren's, that he fought to test his faith and skill rather than to please a cruel king, and that he would not press a yielded opponent.
Their fight was a true contest. Alesund used templar miracles: a domed barrier, a blinding wave of light driven through the sand, and lashing chains of light. Fi rolled beneath the dome, turned the heat of his magic in her own blade against him, unbalanced him with her pommel and, rather than strike his throat, broke the luminarite sigil on his chest. He fell and yielded before the Light and the crowd.
Fi helped him up. He told her she fought as if the world were ending, admitted that he would never face Alerion, whose opponents never live, and said that even some of his order were tired of the way things were. The encounter left Fi thinking that not all who guarded the city were her enemies.

After the books
When the Scorched Sky stains the city, Alesund stands as a measure of the Sanctum’s resolve, whether that resolve protects Luna, or merely preserves its story.
